FOPA Scholarship

CAMBELL COUNTY FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE ASSOCIATE LODGE #10 SCHOLARSHIP RULES AND REGULATIONS

These rules and regulations govern the annual scholarship awarded by the Campbell County Fraternal Order of Police Associate Lodge #10.  They ensure the proper utilization of the funds awarded, as well as fairness and equality in awarding the scholarship.

  1. The applicant must be:
    1. The son, daughter, stepchild, grandchild, or dependent of a member, active or associate, of the Campbell County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #10 in good standing.  In the event we receive no applications the committee may opt to include extended family.
    2. A graduating senior in High School.
    3. Furthering education with preference given to those entering public service to include the Police, Fire, EMT, or Paramedic professions.
  2. Each applicant must:
    1. Complete an application form.
    2. Provide an official high school grade transcript for the last three and one-half years.
    3. Submit the application and transcript to the secretary of Campbell County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #10 before March 31st.  The Secretary will then submit the application and transcript to the Scholarship Committee.
  3. Selection process:
    1. The Scholarship Committee will consist of at least five members with at least two representatives from the Campbell County Fraternal Order of Police #10 Active lodge and three from the Associate Lodge #10.
    2. All applications meeting the above criteria will be submitted to an impartial committee comprised of five members of the Campbell County Fraternal Order of Police Associate and Active Lodge #10.
    3. All grades from transcripts will be converted into a numerical score and averaged for the three years.  Grade point averages (GPA) will be one of the criteria used the selection process.
    4. The Campbell County Fraternal Order of Police Scholarship will be awarded to the candidate chosen by committee vote based on the application, GPA.
    5. Scholarship winners will be notified by May 10th.
  4. Awarding the scholarship:
    1. Student/s awarded the scholarship must provide a billing information to the Treasurer where they would like the scholarship applied.
    2. All funds will be paid directly to the institution or bookstore associated with the institution on behalf of the student.
    3. The funds may be used for tuition, textbooks, and lab fees. ONLY after tuition, textbooks, and lab fees have been paid, funds may be used for official dormitory fees. No part of the funds can be used for recreation in any manner.
    4. If all the funds are not used during the first year, the balance may be carried over into the second year.
    5. If the scholarship recipient drops out of school for any reason, any remaining funds will be returned to the Campbell County Fraternal Order of Police Associate Lodge #10 of Kentucky scholarship fund.
